  • 100 years of brewing history.

    1919

    Creation of the Brewery

    La Grande Brasserie des Enfants de Gayant is the result of the merger of small breweries in Douais. The brewery originally sold its beers at home within a 2-kilometer radius.

  • 1950

    The Brewery grows

    After the war, the brewery had already grown considerably. It brews some 2,600,000 liters a year, and now handles beer deliveries with 3 trucks. It employs 39 people.

  • 1990

    Specialty beers

    A pioneer in specialty beers, the brewery introduced the general public to great tasting beers such as Bière du Démon, Saint-Landelin and La Goudale. At the time, it employed 144 people.

  • 2000

    Acquisition of Brasserie Jeanne d'Arc

    Brasserie Jeanne d’Arc, later renamed Brasserie Grain d’Orge, is acquired by Brasseurs de Gayant. The Brasserie Jeanne d’Arc brands were Triple Secret des Moines, Belzebuth, Septante 5 and La Géante.

    2010

    New start.

    André Pecqueur, owner of the family company Brasserie de Saint-Omer, buys the brewery. He combines his brewing expertise with that of the Brasseurs de Gayant teams.

  • 2016

    We're pushing back the walls!

    The success of specialty beers encourages André Pecqueur to invest in new facilities to meet consumer demand. In just 1 year, a new state-of-the-art brewery is built: Brasserie Goudale.

  • 2019

    A century later.

    Goudale and the other brands of our Brewery have become renowned beers throughout France and the world. Today, Brasserie Goudale employs nearly 200 beer enthusiasts. André Pecqueur’s breweries (Brasseries de Saint-Omer and Goudale) are now France’s largest independent brewing group.
